Skills That Will Help You Finance Your Business

Whether you’re starting up a one-man band, or looking to expand your global enterprise, you’re going to need some sort of financing to meet your goals.
Here are a few ideas that can help you finance your business...
1) Bootstrap it

According to a Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, 99.96% of all businesses are started without formal funding. A bootstrapping entrepreneur spends the bare minimum on getting his business started, and builds things up slowly using a variety of creative, low-cost methods. You would probably need some of your own savings to get going; and would do as much of the technical work possible. If there are areas you need help with, perhaps you could arrange a skills-swap with another enterprise. Once you’re up and running, you’d rely on suppliers and customers to fund your costs.
2) Friends, family (and fools)
Barrie Terblanche, author of Start your own business in South Africa says that this is the biggest source of business finance around the world; and provides …

How To Generate Boldness Before Audience [Giving A Speech]

Most people feel nervous prior to giving a speech.  This is human nature and indeed some degree of nerves is absolutely essential to remain alert and deliver the speech clearly.  However nerves do become a problem if they are debilitating in any way.  Thankfully, there are practical ways to overcome this which are outlined below.
Rationalize your nerves

First of all, silently and in advance of your speech, rationalise your thoughts.  What are nerves?  Nerves are simply a fight or flight response to danger.  If you anticipate something you fear adrenaline will pump around your body causing you to feel anxiety.  Although it may feel uncomfortable, nothing bad will happen to you.  In fact look at your nerves as a positive thing as they will give you the energy to deliver your speech in an emotive, engaging and passionate way.

The World’s Deepest Offshore Oil Platform

Thousands of men and women from 48 countries worked together to overcome daunting technical challenges to design, build and assemble the world’s deepest offshore oil platform. At the peak of construction 12,000 people worked on the Perdido project in the Gulf of Mexico.
Perdido’s hull and platform weigh around 55,000 tonnes — the decks alone are as big as two football fields — and it is moored in about 2,450 metres (8,000 feet) of water. The scale of the project demanded international expertise, with equipment brought in from around the world.

Moving the spar into place
The hull, or spar, was built in Pori, Finland, using steel from a mill 500 kilometres (310 miles) away.  It is nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower and took over two million man hours to build. A giant barge shipped the 22,000-tonne spar on a 13,200-kilometre (8,200-mile) journey from the Baltic Sea to Ingelside, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico. Here the barge was flooded to partially submerge it, allowing the spar to float on…

How To Control Head Lice

In all major cities of the world, many of us live in crowded conditions under which it is easy to maintain lice infestations.  Carrying lice is not a positive attribute.  In fact, if a person is said to be lousy, it gives the impression of being lazy, dirty, and unkempt.  Thus a thing, a place, a job done, etc., could be called “lousy” – meaning wretchedly bad, miserable, or much below standard.
Hear we look at a few practical ways of controlling lice infestations.  Head louse infestation is called pediculosis (capitis).  Head lice stick their eggs (nits) to the base of the hairs on the head.  The eggs hatch in about 11 days and the young (nymphs) take about another 12 days to mature.  A female louse lays half a dozen nits at once and a total of about 100 eggs in her 40 days life time.  Routine bathing and shampooing does not eliminate pediculosis.

Relationship tip: You Cannot Change Him, So Choose Wisely

For the most part, women are designed to nurture, support, and guide others. In my opinion, these things come natural for us because we were created to be the primary caretaker of children. However, the expression of these natural gifts can sometimes be distorted by fear. Fear can turn nurture and supportive guidance into the need to control others.
When a woman is in a relationship the need to control usually translates into insisting that her partner change. She wants him to change, so that she doesn’t have to fear. A woman may fear a man leaving her. She may fear that others won’t think highly of him (and she looks foolish for loving him). She may fear that the man cannot love her correctly or enough. Whatever the fear, the woman’s answer can sometimes be to make him change.

Some of us think we need to prove to others that our love is more superior than any other love that he has received because “he changed for me.” Some of us have to prove we are more lovable than any other woman b…

Stay with me here. I know the tendency of many will be to immediately dismiss this as just a bunch of nutty ideas. But let me submit to you that many very successful people have believed in these powers and used them to create incredible fortunes and success. Also, if you just look at the facts, it is easy to conclude that there must be some truth to this. Whe…

Young African Millionaires

There’s no money like young money.
While African millionaires and billionaires like Onsi Sawiris, Raymond Ackerman, Aliko Dangote and Deinde Fernandez may have more money than most of us can ever dream of, there’s one thing they can never buy: Youth. Even money has its limits.
But there are a handful of young Africans in their 20s and 30s who have built businesses and amassed enviable million-dollar fortunes. Call them million-dollar babies.

While some are corporate animals; others are empire builders- like Ladi Delano, the restless 30 year-old Nigerian entrepreneur who founded Solid XS, a hugely successful premium Vodka business in China when he was barely 23 years old.
He subsequently flipped his vodka company for millions of dollars. Today, he is a co-founder and CEO of Bakrie Delano Africa, a $1 billion investment vehicle committed to making acquisitions in Nigeria’s mining, energy and agriculture sectors.
There are thousands of young and immensely successful entrepreneurs across the A…

Overcome Your Fitness Fears

Wouldn't it be great if you could be allergic to working out?
Then you wouldn't have to admit to friends, loved ones, and co-workers that you simply hate to exercise. Saying your throat swells up or you break out in hives might be easier than enduring the disapproving looks that you fear might come with confessing the truth!
Yes, you can get a great workout indoors
Gyms offer a new approach to fitness coaching
Be fit
But truth be told, there are plenty of exercise haters out there.
Never mind that study after study has shown that regular physical activity -- even at moderate levels -- reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure and obesity and enhances physical and mental functioning. Many Americans still choose a sedentary lifestyle.

A CDC report released last summer showed that 55% of American adults didn't move enough in 2001 to meet the minimum recommendation of 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on most days of the week. And the Gallup Health and H…

Discovery: Smallest Moon Spotted Around Pluto

It appeared as a faint fleck to scientists using the Hubble Space Telescope to scout out the ex-planet's neighbourhood.
The moons are thought to have formed after an ancient collision between Pluto and an object in the Kuiper Belt

Pluto may have been kicked out of the planet club, but it has gained yet another companion.
Scientists announced on Wednesday the discovery of the smallest moon yet around the icy orb, bringing the count of its known moons to five.
"We're not finished searching yet," said Hal Weaver of Johns Hopkins University, who thinks there may be more.
The discovery was made by a team of scientists who used the Hubble Space Telescope to scout out Pluto's neighbourhood ahead of a NASA spacecraft that's scheduled to arrive in 2015. When the New Horizons craft was launched in 2006, Pluto was a full-fledged planet, but it has since been demoted to dwarf planet status by the International Astronomical Union.
The newfound moon - known as P5 until it gets a…
