Nollywood: Rita Dominic And Others Set For The Big One

…As Steph Okereke returns to the trenches
The Audrey Silva Company (TASC), a firm co-founded by Rita Dominic and Mildred Okwo has picked October 19, as the date for the theatrical release of their latest movie, “The Meeting”, just as Stephanie Okereke Idahosa  is currently on location shooting her new movie months after she walked down the aisle with her hubby in Paris.
The movie titled ‘Dry” according to our source, is based on Vesico Vaginal Fistula, which is said to be prevalent  in the northern Nigeria.
On the movie, “The Meeting”, Silverbird Distribution Limited is named as being in charge of marketing and sales.
The romantic comedy stars Rita Dominic alongside veteran actor, Jide Kosoko. It also featured Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, Basorge Tariah, Nse Ikpe-Etim, and Chinedu Ikedieze.
“We are excited about this film because it is a truly Nigerian story that cuts across borders. Anybody anywhere in the world will find something peculiar on his or her immediate environment. We are not only in…

How To Know If Your Boss Hates You

I’m lucky: I always know where I stand with my boss. He’s effusive with praise and candid with criticism—the way it should be. And yet, a recent survey conducted by workplace expert Lynn Taylor found that employees spend more than 19 hours a week worrying about what their boss thinks, including 6 hours on weekends!
Make no mistake: You need to know what your boss thinks of you. Not only for your productivity, but for your sanity as well. How so? According to a study in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, people who think their bosses (or coworkers) dislike them seek out information through eavesdropping. This will just annoy your colleagues, causing them to reject you faster than a deer tick at a dermatologists' convention.
How can you find out what your boss thinks? Well, you could ask. As Aristotle (or was it Trump?) once said, you have to deal with the boss. But if you're too afraid of that awkward talk, look for these subtle signs that your boss hates you.

2012 Olympic: Blake In Trouble With The IOC For Wearing A $500,000 Watch

Usain Bolt's colleague Yohan Blake might just be in Big trouble for his high taste and fashion sense
Blake’s wrist might get much more attention from the International Olympic Committee than Bolt’s entire body thanks to something Blake wore during the 100 final: a custom, $500,000 watch made by designer Richard Mille.
As reported by TNT Magazine, the watch, which you can see in the photo on the right, is a customised sports watch in the green and yellow colours of the Jamaican flag. Officially, the timepiece is called a Richard Mille Tourbillion watch, and the one-of-a-kind piece of functional jewellery was designed specifically for Blake to wear at the Games.
Blake followed through on his part of the bargain, wearing the watch during the semi-finals and finals of the 100m dash, an event in which he finished second, behind countryman and world record holder Bolt. Yohan Blake's $500k watch Yet that has infuriated IOC officials, who have phenomenally strict regulations about what at…

"People Are Using My Name As Fraud On Facebook" - Pastor E.A. Adeboye

“Please be very careful what you easily fall for. There are some persons going around creating false Facebook pages or names, claiming they are Pastor E. A. Adeboye."
General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has disclosed that some people are now impersonating him on social networking site, Facebook.
He said the impersonators were fond of demanding money from unsuspecting members of the public and he (Adeboye) urged people to verify the authenticity of messages credited to him before heeding to such instructions.
Daddy GO, as he's fondly called, said "All you have to do is a search for them on Facebook and they will add you and then pretend to be me, telling you to send some money into an account and because they know you will obey me, they are using this as a new form of fraud.
"Please stop them and report those pages to Facebook so they can be stopped.”
Adeboye said a member of the church had reported to him on how he had been or…

Barcelona Midfielder Iniesta Wins UEFA Best Player In Europe

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta won the UEFA Best Player in Europe award for the 2011-2012 season on Thursday.
Iniesta earned 19 votes in the poll of journalists from across Europe, two more than Barcelona teammate and last year’s winner, Lionel Messi, and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 28-year-old Iniesta was instrumental in helping Spain successfully defend its European Championship title this summer and was crowned the tournament’s best player.
A three-man shortlist was selected by a panel of 53 journalists drawn from each of UEFA’s member nations. The same journalists then voted for the winner immediately after the draw for this season’s Champions League group stage.
UEFA created the honour after France Football magazine combined its traditional European award with FIFA’s world player prize.

Will Ferguson Sign Jamaican Sprint Superstar, Usain Bolt?

The Jamaican sprint superstar was introduced to the fans at United's ground before the 3-2 win against Fulham, and cheekily asked the Red Devils supporters to try and persuade Alex Ferguson to sign him.
He then got a chance to tap up the man himself: the pair enjoyed a cosy chat after the game with Bolt posting a picture of himself and Fergie on an Old Trafford couch - a meeting that appeared to involve glasses of red wine and a plate of traditional football pies. Bolt himself captioned the picture with a tantalisingly ambiguous message: "A wonder what we discussing? Hmmm mmm." What indeed? Last year Bolt said that he "would love to play football for United after I retire", and after defending his Olympic titles at both 100m and 200m this summer he recently reiterated that he wants to try new things - though for the moment that is likely to mean forays into the long jum or 400m.
Bolt also got a chance to rub shoulders with United legend Bobby Charlton, and also s…

Samsung Announces First Windows Phone

Samsung Electronics became the first handset maker to announce a smartphone using Microsoft’s latest mobile software, making its surprise, hurried announcement just days before the highly anticipated launch of Nokia’s version.
The brief announcement on Wednesday at a Berlin electronics show comes amid expectations that smartphone makers may turn increasingly to Windows devices after a U.S. jury decided many of Samsung’s Google Android-based phones infringed Apple Inc patents.
“It looks like a good phone, and seems like a pre-emptive announcement ahead of Nokia,” said Sid Parakh, an analyst at investment firm McAdams Wright Ragen, of the Samsung phone.
“Microsoft or Windows never got their best teams, never got their best designs, just because Android was doing so well. With the change in the legal environment, there’s a case to be made that Samsung will likely shift some of those resources to broaden out or diversify their own exposure.”
Nokia, the ailing Finnish mobile firm, once the wor…

Women! Things That Scare Men Away

Here are some potential early-in-the-relationship dating fumbles that set an alarm off for most guys. Stop yourself before you make one of these mistakes with a man you just started dating.
1. Ex-Talk - Ex-boyfriends will come up. And from my perspective, exes should come up. I've always found that knowing a little bit about the ex and why that relationship didn't work out is healthy and informative. You can learn a lot about a person by listening to how they talk about their former partner. But when that "talk" makes it obvious that you are still carrying a torch for your ex-boyfriend-- or worse, you show symptoms of stalker-like aggressiveness, you won't be getting a call back. What you should be getting is therapy.
2. Baby-Making - Sure, it's perfectly reasonable to want kids. But no guy wants to be sized up for fatherhood at the outset of the courtship. There's a hint of desperation in bringing up the topic too early. Even if you're THINKING about b…

The chances came as early as the second minute in the first half as the Falconets quickly got into their stride at the National Stadium in Tokyo.
Gloria Okobi shot from the edge of the box but Mexican goalkeeper Cecilia Santiago easily gathered and she was to prove a blockade for the barrage of shots from the Nigerian girls throughout the match until she was beaten by Oparanozie’s classic looping header that gave her no chance in extra time.
Oparanozie had the next shot in anger in the third minute but it was well …

“My Father Has Never Met My Husband (Nigerian)” - White American Woman

"I am a white American that married a Nigerian. I grew up in Bauxite, Arkansas. I have lived in Nigeria for the past 7 years with my husband. We have two children together. We have been married for 12 years now. My father has never met my husband and has refused to accept my children also.
When I had my first baby, a little girl that is now 12 years old. I called my father and said that I wanted to come and see him for Christmas with my baby. He said, "I don't want any black people in my home!" and hung up the phone!
I grew up in an all white school with only one mixed girl in the school. I was treated horribly in school because I dated a black boy that lived in the next town at the age of 16. My father told me that he would disown me and to this day, I have never received a phone call from him.
I was called nigger lover in school and nobody wanted to sit by me. I knew what it felt like to be rejected. I was sent away to several different homes for troubled children b…

Embrace Wisdom In Your Home (Part 3) - Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dear Reader,
Calvary greetings to you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!  So far, I have been exploring the subject, Embrace Wisdom In Your Home.  In my first lesson, I took you through the kinds of wisdom and how you can connect yourself to the wisdom of God.  In my second lesson, I taught you how you can walk in the wisdom of God in your home as a man.  Last week, I also showed you how to walk in the wisdom of God in your home as a woman.
This week, I want to teach on Wisdom for Effective Money Management in the Home.
What is Money?  The Oxford Dictionary defines money as a medium of exchange.  Webster’s Dictionary defines money as anything that serves as a medium of exchange for goods and services in the form of tokens, which have a value, established by a commonly recognized authority.
So, money is a legal tender accepted for exchange of goods and services received or tendered.  Money can be earned via products and services.  What you don’t earn, you can’t maintain.
What is Managemen…

Nollywood Actress, Stephanie Okereke Shoots Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) Movie

Nollywood actress, Stephanie Okereke-Linus is currently shooting a new movie titled DRY, in different parts of the country.
She says the movie focuses on Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) and journeys into the heart-wrenching details of a culture not too many films dare to explore.
“This is a cause I am very passionate about. I have been to the North and to other parts of the country, and I have seen first-hand how this health issue defies normal living for girls and women of different ages. I have decided to share their stories through “DRY”.
The actress, who placed second position in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria competition in 2002, admits that though the issue might seem controversial, the movie would have served its purpose if it succeeds in setting one girl free and opens the minds of the people.
Shedding light on the condition, she says, “VVF causes leakage of urine and faeces through the vagina. Girls as young as 11-15 years suffer this ailment when they are forced into early marr…

Reasons Why Minister Of Power, Barth Nnaji, Was Forced To Resign

Contrary to the impression created by the presidency that the Minister of Power, Barth Nnaji, resigned from office on his own volition, highly placed sources familiar with the matter have told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Nnaji was actuallyforced to resign Tuesday following a gale of allegations linking him with attempts to subvert the bidding process for the sale of Afam Power plant.
Aso Rock spokesperson, Reuben Abati, had released a statement this evening saying President Goodluck Jonathan had accepted the power minister’s resignation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
But presidency sources have told us the minister was compelled by Mr. Jonathan to resign after allegations of conflict of interest in the privatisation of the power plant was confirmed .
Reports earlier this week had linked Mr. Nnaji with direct interests in one of the firms shortlisted to bid for the 776 megawatts (MW) capacity Afam power plant, already slated for privatisation by the Federal Government.
The plant,…

The Value Of Money In Relationship

So many have argued that money should not be so important to any relationship, and how money can actually help make a relationship a lot sweeter.
Do you want happiness? The answer to that question is an obvious yes. Guess what? Money can increase your happiness. So many people do not agree that money can buy you happiness. This is not entirely true. Money cannot give happiness, but it can increase the level of happiness that people have.
A father, who is a happy person by nature, will be even happier if he can send his children to good schools and give them good clothes, whereas the father, who cannot do the same for his children, over time will become a depressed person who looks at life in general with a big frown. So many cases abound of families who have been torn apart because of money, where relationships dissolved because of money, and this is not because the persons involved are so materialistic.
Nigerian men, for example, think that most women are materialistic, money hungry gob…

Nollywood glorified miss sunshine, actress Funke Akindele-Oloyede speaks with Genevieve Magazine on how her husband, Mr. Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede proposed, and how supportive he has been on her career.
Funke Akindele and Almaroof met in 2007 but remained just friends until about eight months later. All that time she was playing hard to get and hardly gave him her time.
But Almaroof was patient, always keeping in touch and regularly checking on her to know how she was doing. By 2011, they eventually started dating.
When finally proposed, Funke wasn’t too surprised being a writer used to suspense, twists and plots of romantic scenes. “Secondly, if you’re dating some who plans to marry you, you would know,” she adds.
She still remembers every detail of Almaroof’s proposal: “I was on set filming in Abeokuta when he called to ask if we were done. I said ‘No’ and reminded him we were filming for five days and asked why he was suddenly asking and he said he just wanted to know.
Then he started as…
