An award-winning Nigerian music director, Aswad Ayinde, found guilty of fathering children with his daughters will spend the rest of his life in jail.

According to Mail Online, Ayinde, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, United States, was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Friday after being found guilty in the second of five expected trials in which he is accused of repeatedly raping his six daughters, resulting in six children being fathered.

Okagbare Sets New African 100m Record

Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare on Saturday broke the African women’s 100m record twice at the ongoing Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games in London.

The rangy Nigerian sprinter coasted home in an impressive 10.86 seconds winning time in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m event to erase compatriot Glory Alozie’s 10.90secs set in 1999.

But Okagbare was not done yet as she put up another heroic performance in the final to break the African record she had set earlier in the heats to win in a time of 10.7secs ahead of second–placed Barbara Pierre of the United States – who clocked a joint personal best time of 10.85sec- and Trinidad’s Kelly-Ann Baptiste (third in 10.93secs).

After running a world leading 10.7 secs in the semi-finals, defending world champion and reigning Olympic 100m gold medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, never recovered from a poor start in the final, finishing fourth in 10.94secs.

Okagbare has been in fantastic form recently, with the London feat her second Diamond League victory.

PDP Palaver: Court Did Not Sack Tukur, Acting National Officers

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, and the national officers of the party were not sacked by the July 25 ruling of the  Abuja High Court which stopped the planned special national convention of the party.

A statement issued on Saturday  by the acting national publicity secretary of the party, Barrister Tony Caesar Okeke, said the affected national officers had actually resigned their positions with regard to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) report at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP on   June 20.

Mother Brings Baby Back To Life With Two Hours Of Loving Cuddles After Doctors Pronounced Him Dead

It was a final chance to say goodbye for grieving mother Kate Ogg after doctors gave up hope of saving her premature baby. She tearfully told her lifeless son – born at 27 weeks weighing 2lb – how much she loved him and cuddled him tightly, not wanting to let him go. Although little Jamie’s twin sister Emily had been delivered successfully, doctors had given Mrs Ogg the news all mothers dread – that after 20 minutes of battling to get her son to breathe, they had declared him dead.

Having given up on a miracle, Mrs Ogg unwrapped the baby from his blanket and held him against her skin. And then an extraordinary thing happened. After two hours of being hugged, touched and spoken to by his mother, the little boy began showing signs of life.

More Than 100 Bodies Exhumed In Peru

Peruvian prosecutors have exhumed from in and around Lima the bodies of more than 100 accused Shining Path rebels slain in a 1986 prison uprising, a lawyer says.

The men, all killed at Lurigancho prison, were exhumed beginning in mid-July from more than a dozen cemeteries as part of a probe into a massacre of inmates who had surrendered.
