Is Nigerian President A Terrorist?

While Goodluck Jonathan was Acting as president of Nigeria, in October 2010 shortly before the Presidential elections, there was a large bomb blast during independence celebrations in Abuja. Immediately after the attack, before an investigation was ever conducted by Nigeria's security services, the President suddenly categorically exonerated MEND terrorists of involvement. This was a SERIOUS and dangerous submission, within hours after a bomb attack and before any evidence could have been fully investigated.

This suggested prior knowledge of the attack and prompted questions of why if it was known by the President, the people were not protected and given advanced warning. Jonathan blamed northern elements for this bombing, seeking to utilize it to his advantage for political gains.

It also said it was turning down the award because of the corruption in the polity, especially with the allegation that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, failed to remit $20 billion to the Federation Account; and the millions of naira being expended to celebrate the centenary, which it said could have been channeled into the nation’s teaching hospitals.

Black hole Eats Gas

You can’t beat a quasar for general awesomeness. When they were first discovered in the 1960s, nobody could imagine what those pinpoints of light could be: they looked like stars, but they were so intensely bright that they could be seen more than halfway across the universe. Astronomers now know they’re unusually huge black holes, with millions or even billions of stars’ worth of mass—a bloated state they achieve by sucking in surrounding gas as well as the gaseous remains of stars they pulverize with their gravity. The ingested material heats up to millions of degrees before swirling down a bottomless gravitational drain.

Black holes—some of which were once quasars and some of which weren’t—lurk in the cores of almost all galaxies (including our own Milky Way). But the age of the quasars themselves appears to be over, with all of the major ones apparently winking out billions of years ago. And while astronomers aren’t 100% sure why, a new report in Science lends support to a longst…

New 715 Planets Found

There’s a rule of thumb that can come in handy when you hear about new planet discoveries from the Kepler space mission. If they’re talking about a handful of new worlds orbiting distant stars, it’s an actual discovery. If they’re talking about hundreds, it’s not actual planets but “planet candidates,” which haven’t yet been independently verified—a key step before scientists can claim they’ve genuinely found something.

But the latest announcement from the Kepler science team has just turned that reliable rule on its head. As of yesterday, astronomers knew of about a thousand verified planets beyond our Solar System, the majority of them found with telescopes other than Kepler. Today, Kepler added an unprecedented 715 new ones to the list, nearly doubling the count of bona fide exoplanets known to science. “For years, I’ve trained myself to say ‘planet candidate’ rather than ‘planet’ most of the time,” said SETI Institute and Kepler scientist Jason Rowe in a press conference. “I have…

Reno Omokri, Sanusi and Boko Haram – By James Ogunjimi

Reading through the news, I came across news about President Jonathan’s Special Assistant on New Media, Pastor Reno Omokri. Obviously he had been ‘implicated’ in the ‘allegations’ ‘attempting’ to link ousted CBN Governor Mallam Sanusi with the Boko Haram sect.

He authored a document under the name “Wendell Simlin”. After reading through the reactions to the revealed document, I was surprised that all we are crying over is that Reno should be removed, he has committed crime, etc; nobody is saying the ‘allegations’ should be looked into.

Why Lamido Sanusi Should End Up In Kirikiri Prison By Femi Aribisala

One of the more annoying things about Nigeria is that our thieves are bad thieves. Conventionally, thieves operate at the night, out of respect for the homeowner and law-enforcement agencies. Not in Nigeria: thieves operate here in broad daylight in absolute contempt of everybody.

In Nigeria, thieves know they will not be caught.  They know if they are caught, they will not be tried.  They know if they are tried, they will not go to jail.  Therefore, there is a culture of impunity in Nigeria which makes the country a holiday-resort for thieves and robbers.
